Case Study: Voyages

Company Profile

Voyages is a leading Australian travel company providing experience-based holidays. Voyages lives by its social and environmental business contracts, with properties located in many spectacular and complex wilderness locations across Australia.

Business Needs

Voyages’ IT team provides technical support to its various properties, on call 24/7. With several employees based outside of the Sydney CBD area, the cost of taxis and transport for after-hours service was phenomenal. Before partnering with Charter Drive 12 months ago, Voyages was facing costs of up to $140 one-way on the longest trip. In
some instances employees had to stay in hotels, which further escalated costs.

Now through Charter Drive employees can travel to jobs with ease, whilst delivering a cost saving back to the business. The same long distance trip now with Charter Drive costs only $60, delivering up to 60% saving. Cab charges are still used but to a far less significant extent.

Business Benefits

Voyages were attracted to the Charter Drive service because of a combination of shared environmental principles, matched by price and convenience benefits. IT support staff regularly have to transport large items of equipment, so ‘vehicles on demand’ make it easier to load and unload.

Greg Hucker, head of IT and Telecommunications said: “Voyages also prides itself on being an ecofriendly business and shares this vision with Charter Drive. The cars themselves are very low impact and fuel conscious, which fits the Voyages business mantra.”

Employees also benefit from a different rate system on the weekends, giving them lifestyle choices. Greg Hucker, head of IT and Telecommunications adds: “Pre-booking takes just a minute, if that – it’s simple to use, so the level of control is fantastic.”

Testimonial

Great to see Australia adopting smart ideas! Car sharing service should be accepted as a standard for environmental benefits, helping businesses to have a much smaller environmental footprint.”
